Norway and Swix partners for a Fluor free future

The Norwegian Ski Association Cross Country and Swix have made an agreement which makes Swix the main supplier of ski-wax and poles for the National Cross Country Teams. Together they will work and aim for a Fluor free future.

- As a leading Cross-Country nation, our obligation is to take responsibility with partners committed to a sustainable future and Fluor free products. That's why it is important for us resuming Swix as our main supplier of wax and ski-poles in Norwegian Cross Country skiing. Swix is a strong Norwegian brand by quality and has already proved they want to develop high-quality products in cooperation with us, says Espen Bjervig, Head of Norwegian Ski Association Cross Country.

The agreement between Swix and the Norwegian Ski Association Cross Country applies until 2022.

- We are delighted to again cooperate with the world’s best Cross Country skiers to develop the best ski-wax and poles, says Aage Skinstad, Brand Director Swix.

Already, 60 percent of Swix’s ski-wax are Fluor free.

Even at the National team level the Fluor free products are widely used. All the Swix products are clearly marked “Fluor free”.

Swix and the Norwegian Ski Federation will implement a series of ski wax-courses on the Fluor free issue and design guidelines and manuals in order to teach how the Fluor free products should be used.

Vegard Kvisle – from the Norwegian movement “Toughest without Fluoro”- believes the new partnership fits the recent ban on Fluoro wax for Norwegian Skiers up to and including 16 years of age.

- There is still a lot of work to do, before our National Sport is completely Fluoride-free. To succeed, it’s crucial that the ski wax industry is a part of the solution. It’s gratifying to see Swix supports the Fluoro ban and leading by example with developing high quality non-fluoride alternatives, which are EHS-documented and offered at affordable prices, he believes.
